Renaissance Marina - Redesign

Renaissance Marina had several reasons to upgrade their website. Lets look at each one of them, maybe your site is suffering from the same problems, even if you don't know it!

First of all, the site was 'getting old'. Now the old site was a good one: even though it was only one page, the necessary information could be found. A lot of clients think for this reason their site is good enough and an upgrade is throwing away money. But there are more reasons: Renaissance Marina was often mistaken for the Renaissance Resort. An understandable mistake, since the names are so similar, and the Renaissance Resort even has a hotel named 'Marina Tower'. A third reason to redesign was simply to make the site more attractive. Now that most users on Aruba and elsewhere have high bandwidth it is more feasible to use professional pictures (we recommend hiring a photographer).

Sander Vellinga, manager of the Marina, requested specifically to have the site fast enough for low bandwidth, since many of his visitors will not have a high bandwidth connection when they just arrive in a country. We have made a special low-bandwidth style sheet which can be selected the first time the site is visited. The great effect in this low bandwidth version is that it is all run by javascript, so it's super fast. Also, you will notice the interactive map switches to a picture of the same map on the spot.
